Multimedia installation; Video and framed renders, 2022
'óbyggð' (’uninhabited’) is a poetic meditation on Icelandic wilderness and hybrid spaces where nature and technology meet. What does capitalism and its implications do to our natural environment and our relationship with it? This installation explores sites like the Kárahnjúkar Hydropower Plant which put a big scar in the Icelandic landscape and the Okjökull Glacier which was declared dead in 2014, questioning what it is that we mean by progress. This work was made during my three month stay in Iceland as an artist in residence at SíM.
